Research: Aesop's Fables

Agrégé in Modern Letters, Antoine Biscéré is a doctoral candidate at the University of Paris-Sorbonne and fixed-term faculty member of the University of Aix-Marseille. He is completing his dissertation in French and Comparative Literature under the direction of Patrick Dandrey, titled “Transmission, Reception and Appropriation of the Legacy of Aesop (15th-18th centuries): Towards an Archive and Archaeology of La Fontaine’s Fables [Transmission, réception et appropriation de l’héritage ésopique (XVe-XVIIe siècle). Pour une archive et une archéologie des Fables de La Fontaine].” He has written several articles on the Aesopian tradition in the modern age (humanistic reception of the Aesopian corpus, poetics of the Neo-Latin fable, Editorial history and iconography of the Life of Aesop…).

He is general secretary of the Société La Fontaine, assistant editor of its annual publication, Le Fablier and since 2012 has coordinated the scientific of the Fabula numerica project, a digital humanities initiative directed by Patrick Dandrey as part of the OBVIL Laboratory of the Sorbonne Universities (in 2016, he was joined in this role by Tiphaine Rolland, who now shares the coordinator position to this project).
