Illustrations
This section brings together important visual elements from the digitised books. This includes illustrations, of course, but also drop-cap letters, headpieces, culs-de-lampe and ex libris, in order to document the history of typographical practices over the centuries, and to show the astounding inventiveness of printers, typesetters, illustrators, printmakers and publishers. For now, the image series only draws from documents related to the “Faust” and “De Bry” constellations. Other series will add to this section in the future.
